Pure wave sail for classic wave riding

Looking for a pure wave sail...this is it, optimum manoeuvrability with smooth drive. Suitable for wave riding or jumping - this sail will give the best balance in both and gives great control whilst in aerial manoeuvres due to it’s extreme light weight and very low aspect ratio. While more neutral and balanced on the waves compared to last years Fly, it offers plenty of grunt for radical aerial action.

Design Features

  • The lowest aspect ratio of any NeilPryde wave sail - Compact Clew outline and short luff, resulting in a more manoeuvrable sail.
  • Moderate flat profile, with the draft location perfectly balanced between front and back hand, providing constant drive to the board.
  • 4 battens in all sizes to reduce weight, improve softness and enhance a progressive twist when powered up as the wind increases.
  • Medium skin tension for faster response and improved stability.
  • Low clew position for improved lower leech twist and sail control when wave riding.
  • Load specific reinforcement ensuring strength in the most critical load areas.
  • Clear monofilm window for good visibility.

Key Points

  • Pure wave sail designed to be lightweight, with plenty of drive and stability.
  • High level of manoeuvrability and fluidity on the water and in the air.
  • Suitable for new school wave riding, the Fly 2 can easily power-up through hard bottom turns and depower instantly when changing direction ‘off the top’.
  • Extreme compact outline, lightweight and durable construction.
  • Constant drive with low centre of effort: particularly appropriate for extremely deliverables boards.
  • Soft and forgiving with neutral profile when depowered in manoeuvres or when wave riding.
  • Instant reaction abilities for fast dynamic aerial moves.

Rigging Tips

  • The Fly 2 likes some out-haul tension. When rigging you’ll find the bottom 2 battens sitting about half way over the mast. This needs to be compensated for by applying plenty of out-haul tension. For the down-haul however try to not over do it, the 4 batten sails twist of a little easier than the 5 batten wave sails you might be used to. The sail feels a little less powerful than last year but planes as quick and feels much lighter..
